Personal Collection of Woods

Brazilian Curly Imbuia is also known as Brazilian Walnut, but it is not a member of the Juglans family. Imbuia is a very finely grained wood extremely hard to obtain - is actually harder to get than Brazilian Rosewood - and now, extremely rare.  I've only seen a half dozen sets in the same number of years (I bought two of them), one is being made into a very special guitar for me right now!  This is the other, which has a very beautiful grain pattern and highly quilted. .  It is a hard, dense wood, so it produces a relatively tight, bright, tone and offers good tonal separation from string to string, while retaining plenty of bass.
